Calendar Launching

The 2020 Calendar Towel launching ceremony took place on September 6, 2019. This year's design is by Ana Soto. 

United Nations International Bazaar 2019

May 2, 2019

United Nations International Bazaar was held on May 2nd, 2019 in the North East Lobby at the United Nations Headquarters, New York. Our four groups participated as well as many missions, contributing delicious international foods, items, art and raffle prizes. We were joined by ambassadors and special guests from different countries. 

UNWG Annual General Meeting 2019

February 26, 2019

​United Nations Women's Guild Annual General Meeting was held on February 26, 2019. Raunaque Jahan (Ranu Ferdous) was elected as our new president. Following the AGM, we had a luncheon at the delegates dining room.  

United Nations Kids Day 2019

February 20, 2019

The United Nations celebrated UN Kids Day on February 20, 2019. UNWG participated with various programs including coloring, painting, art class and face painting! We asked the kids to answer the question, "How can the UN help vulnerable kids around the world?" See photos from the event to see their wonderful answers.

United Nations Women's Guild Annual General Meeting 

The AGM on will be held on 22 February in Conference room E from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Luncheon after the AGM at the Delegates Dining Room ($36pp) does not include beverages.

UNWG 2019 Calendar Towel Design Contest

The deadline for submitting entries for 2019 is Wednesday, 28 February 2018.​

 

The Calendar Towel design contest was started in 1963 and the Guild has in its possession samples of calendar towel designs for the past 55 years.

Please see images in our photo gallery. Each year we ask artists to compete in designing similar images for the Calendar Towel of the coming year. These towels are on sale at the Guild's Gift Store in the United Nations Visitor's Centre. Towels may be ordered by mail or on our website.

Please see the entry form provided on this site if you wish to enter the contest for 2019. All funds raised by the Guild are for the support of projects for children in vulnerable situations all over the world, therefore there is no compensation or prize to the winner. A launch event for the winning calendar design takes place at the UN Headquarters each autumn. At this event the winning designer is our special guest. The designer's bio and the event will be posted on our website. Guidelines for the Calendar Towel contest can be found here. Please submit your entry to unwg@un.org as soon as possible. UNWG efforts to alleviate the suffering of children in refugee camps.

With the Balsam Project located in the border of Turkey, UNWG joined a world effort to alleviate the suffering of children living in refugee camps.  By allocating funds to the project,  we are contributing to cover part of their basic needs such as food, health, shelter, and education.

In commemoration of the United Nations 70th Anniversary the United Nations Women’s Guild presented "Mandalas of Hope", the Children's Projects and Art Ehibition which will took place from 7 to 11 December 2015 at the passageway between Vienna Cafe and Visitor's Center.

United Nations International Bazaar

"Shop for Charity," May 20th, 2014.

Mrs. Ban Soon-taek and the  United Nations Women’s Organizations & Permanent Missions to the UN are proud to present the United Nations International Bazaar. It will be held in the United Nations Rose Garden on Tuesday, May 20th from 10:30AM to 4:00PM.  There will be exotic food and beverages, hand-crafted items, and a raffle drawing. All proceeds go to benefit the Central Emergency Relief Fund and children's projects throughout the world.

Thousands of Syrian children fleeing country alone, UN agency warns.

Over half of Syrian refugees in Lebanon are children…..

20 September 2013 – More than 4,000 Syrian children have crossed borders into neighbouring countries without parents or adult relatives, the United Nations children’s agency said today, warning that without the protection of guardians, they remain extraordinarily vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) spokesperson Marixie Mercado told journalists in Geneva that many of the children “were working to provide income back to families, and were desperate to get back to school.”
