SERBIA: CEPORA
Vision, Mission and Objective
The Center for Positive Youth Development (CEPORA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2011 in Belgrade, Serbia, by experts in the field of prevention of problem behavior. Their vision is to provide every child with the optimum conditions for positive development. Its mission is to implement current prevention science knowledge to improve the emotional and social development of children and youth. Its objective is to create conditions for, and improve the emotional and social development of children and youth, thereby preventing behavioral problems.
CEPORA’s main program is the community-based DevelopmentalPrevention Center that helps deprived children without parental care in orphanages in Belgrade. Since 2023, additional support is provided to overcome risks and build strengths when they are placed in foster families.
Services and Activities.
Free support is provided to diverse groups of about 350 children and youth without parental care; and to professionals that work with them in the fields of social welfare, education, culture and art; as well as improving the system solutions for their care. They are helped in their integration into the community and organize activities with their peers from Belgrade elementary and secondary schools.
Children who live in orphanages are provided with these services: developmental, creative, educational and d r a m a workshops; excursions to theatre shows and exhibits. Children in foster care are provided with mentorship and learning support. A Community Center provides children who leave the orphanage, with psychosocial and educational support, peer mentoring and assistance in employment, independent living and active citizenship.
Government, private sector support.
Our activities are free for our users – children, youth, experts, institutions. Government funds are provided occasionally and covers a part of our budget: for workshop and promotional materials, free use of facilities for social workshops, staff fees, community activities and publications. Localgovernment provides free rent for office activities. Private sector donates primarily to our school program. We receive funds for local, national and international projects.
The costs of most of our activities are covered by a highly developed and praised volunteering program (we won a national prize for it in 2019).
Use of UNWG donations.
The UNWG donations are used for educational supplies, basic facility rent and equipping costs; lunch packages and transportation costs during outings and visits. August 2024
